Excel 101 for Salesmen
A hands-on Excel course that turns raw sales exports into clear, decision-ready analysis — built for sales professionals who want to read their own numbers without waiting on anyone.
My role: Created the full course — curriculum, workbooks, and capstone.
Executive summary
Excel 101 for Salesmen is a dedicated Excel course for sales professionals — account managers, reps, and sales-ops people — who regularly receive raw data exports from CRM or ERP systems and need to turn them into answers on their own.
It teaches the 80% of Excel a sales team actually uses day to day: cleaning messy exports, enriching them, summarising the numbers, and presenting them. The goal is simple — make each salesperson faster, more independent, and sharper at reading their own performance.
What you'll learn
The course follows one real sales export all the way from a messy file to a finished dashboard, across five practical stages.
- 1 · Receive & clean (50 min)Table formatting, TRIM/CLEAN, Find & Replace, VALUE/DATEVALUE, text functions, deduplication, and Paste Special.
- 2 · Structure & enrich (45 min)VLOOKUP for reference lookups, an XLOOKUP introduction, and the common ways lookups fail.
- 3 · Explore & summarise (60 min)AutoFilter, SUBTOTAL, SUMIFS/COUNTIFS/AVERAGEIFS, and core KPIs like net sales, return rate, and AOV.
- 4 · Pivot & rank (40 min)PivotTables, grouping, slicers, and building leaderboards.
- 5 · Present & capstone (70 min)Conditional formatting, a one-page KPI dashboard, and a capstone assessment.

Outcome
By the end, learners can take a fresh sales export and answer real business questions on their own — the capstone has them work through around eleven, producing KPIs such as net sales, gross profit, return rate, average order value, and quota attainment.
It's free and open source, so any salesperson or team can pick it up and start turning their own data into decisions.
